What does this role entail?
A Project Manager will look after a project from start to finish looking at every little detail. They make do the following tasks:
- Managing a project by making sure it is implemented, monitored, controlled and completed.
- Producing and implementing a schedule of work
- Estimation and tight control of a budget
- Ensuring you have the right team for the job
- Quality assurance
- Risk management
- Progression and salary
To become a Project Manager it can help to have an industry qualification such as a Prince II certification. Many Project Managers come from a Mechanical or Process Engineering background, although some do progress through other engineering disciplines. If your aim is to enter a Project Management career, with experience you can expect a salary of up to £45,000. Eventually you could even become a Senior Project Manager with a salary in excess of £70,000.
