Candidate FAQs
We have put together a list of some of the questions that our recruiters are asked the most to help you understand our processes, when looking for your next role.
If you have a question that is not listed then please call us on +44 (0) 1925 907000 or email recruit@firstrg.com
Question 1.
I have sent my CV to First Recruitment Group, to see if you have any vacancies that you think I might be suitable for. Why haven’t I had a response?
Answer
There could be a variety of reasons that our recruiters have not been in contact. It could be that:
- Our clients has asked for specific industry experience that you don’t have
- You have told us your expected salary, and it doesn’t match our clients expectations, so we didn’t think you would be interested in it
- You might not have the right level of experience compared to other candidates on our database
Even though we have not been in contact, your CV will be added to our database so that if we do match you with a suitable vacancy, we can get in contact with you. Please make sure you send us your most up to date CV.
Question 2.
Can I apply for more than one job at a time?
Answer
YES, you can apply and be put forward for as many roles as we deem you suitable for. If you get an offer from more than one client the decision will be yours as to which one you accept. If there is another vacancy that you are interested in, then please talk to the recruiter you have been dealing with and ask their advice.
Question 3.
Why should I register with First Recruitment Group?
Answer
There are many advantages to registering with us.
- We have 18 years experience in the industry and can give you valuable advice on how to get a new role. We can give you feedback on your CV, offer interview advice and negotiate salaries for you.
- Access to a variety of major and SME clients.
- Sometimes our client’s requirements are urgent and so we will not necessarily advertise all the vacancies, choosing instead to quickly contact the suitable people on our database.
- We keep in regular contact with your candidates, and especially when working with contractors, checking your details and sending you suitable contracts that are being advertised.
Also if you register for alerts on our website, you can be emailed automatically of any vacancies we do advertise directly, so you can assess if you are interested and want to apply. Through these we will also send you articles with career advice, CV tips, interview do’s and don’t, and even specific sector news that could be of interest. We will never bombard you with emails. You can tailor what information you would like to be sent to you, unsubscribing at any time.
Question 4.
Do you ever send my CVs to a client without contacting me to see if I’m interested?
Answer
NO, we will never do this. We will only send your details to our clients after we have spoken to you and confirmed your interest. It is important to us that we get your permission so that we can reassure both you and our clients of interest.
Question 5.
If I have applied for a vacancy through your website or a jobs board, does that mean my details have been sent to the client?
Answer
No, our consultants firstly screen all applications and then create a shortlist of suitable candidates to contact and discuss the role further with. When we do this we will inform you who the client is so that you can tell us of your interest.
If you are suitable for the role, we will normally contact you within 3 days of your application. If you have not been contacted, unfortunately our consultants have not chosen you for that particular vacancies shortlist. But we will keep your CV on record, should you be suitable for a different vacancy. If you are concerned that we have not received your application, or that we have made the wrong decision, please contact us by calling +44 (0) 1925 907000 or email recruit@firstrg.com. We’ll be happy to discuss with you.
Question 6. Should I contact you regularly to inform you if I’m actively looking for work?
Answer
We welcome you getting in contact to let us know about your current working situation. This is especially important if you are looking for temporary or contract roles. If you let us know your availability as soon as you know your contract is ending, then we can match you with the most recent roles we have on our system. If you are looking for a permanent role then please let us know if your current work situation has changed. Perhaps you are being made redundant, looking for career progression, or moving to a new area and would like a job closer to home. Whatever the reason send us your most recent CV and the type of role you would like to find and we’ll get to work on matching you to the right role.
