Our client are looking for a Civil Project Engineer to work on a contract basis, the role can be based in Birmingham or London however, If Birmingham based, then travel to London would be expected, when required.

Purpose of the Job:

The Civil Project Engineer is responsible for managing substation civil engineering, construction, and contracting activities from tendering with Sales to hand-over to the service department or client. The role ensures adherence to scope, cost, time, and quality objectives to maximize returns.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Technical:

  • Undertake civil and structural design and review civil documentation per contractual requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of UK Building Market, Standards, and Regulations.
  • Resolve site technical queries, oversee remedial works, and manage snags.
  • Support CDM coordinator and Temporary Works coordinator as necessary.
  • Provide technical advice during feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning phases.

Project Management:

  • Monitor, control, and report on project progress and budget.
  • Select key personnel and subcontractors.
  • Develop cost-effective design and construction solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clients' Design Guidance, Standards, and Specifications.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in construction industry project management.
  • Proficiency in civil and structural design and documentation review.
  • Experience in contract negotiations, awarding, and administration.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Market, Standards, and Regulations.
  • Familiarity with major utilities preferred.
  • Experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) advantageous.
