Overview: Our client, a leading organisation in the nuclear sector, is seeking a Commissioning Engineer specialising in in-cell handler testing to join their team. Reporting to the Commissioning Team Leader, this role requires a candidate with strong experience in nuclear mechanical systems commissioning and a proactive approach to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute commissioning tests with safety implications, ensuring meticulous control, witnessing, recording, and assessment.
- Deliver commissioning work scope according to an agreed strategy and plan, prioritizing timely and cost-effective completion.
- Maintain a proactive approach to safety (nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental) throughout the commissioning process.
- Review commissioning progress and performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Manage day-to-day liaison with personnel to secure necessary permissions and minimize project impact.
- Review commissioning test results for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide input into other project processes, including design, HAZOP, risk assessment, contract management, estimating, and knowledge management.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in nuclear mechanical systems commissioning.
- Minimum HNC/HND in an Engineering-related subject or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in nuclear commissioning.
- Knowledge of project management principles, preferably a member of the Association for Project Management (APM).
- Proficiency in producing calculations using Microsoft Excel.
Security Clearance: The ability to obtain BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) and P4 Pass is essential for continued employment in this role.
Design Tools/Software: Proficiency in using the latest editions of Microsoft Office software.
