Aberdeen or London based – Hybrid working of 4 days per week in the office and 1 day per week working from home

A Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline Installation) is required to work for a global Oil & Gas company on a permanent staff basis that will provide a great opportunity to work within Pipeline Installation projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background within subsea pipeline installation projects and will ideally provide an engineering focused background.

Your role will involve supervising a diverse team of installation engineers, coordinating various methods of pipeline reel lay installation for work assignments on global projects either in progress or in the process of tendering. You will support the efficient day-to-day running of the installation engineering team and provide regular operational reports on general project engineering activities, technical subject matters, and resource management. As a Lead Engineer, you will also provide guidance to other engineers on engineering subjects.

What will you be doing?

  • As the Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline Installation), you will be coordinating a team of method engineers to follow project scope(s) from early engagement with our internal and external clients through to offshore execution on board our reel lay assets.
  • You’ll be a be a technical reference for pipeline installation and contribute to the sub-contractors selection.
  • As the Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline Installation), you will produce installation method statements and procedures, support procurement activities and subcontract follow up, proactively support HSEQ activities and prepare and deliver technical presentations.
  • Installation rigging calculations and rigging design.
  • Assist Tendering department with feasibility studies, method statements, manhour estimates, schedule inputs and costing support.
  • As the Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline Installation), you will be supporting installation aid procurement, fabrication and testing follow up.
  • Follow your scope offshore on our installation vessels.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • As the Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline Installation), you will be degree qualified in Engineering/Marine/Naval/Offshore Technology / Civil / Mechanical or equivalent
  • Extensive experience as a project engineer, the majority of this from within the offshore energy industry.
  • Demonstrable years of experience of offshore pipeline installation methods, ideally using the reel lay method, but S or J-lay method could also be considered as relevant experience.
  • As the Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline Installation), you will have experience of guiding and leading teams of engineers in project scopes
  • You should be a clear communicator, able to speak with all levels within the business, who is comfortable working on their own and as part of a team
