One of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical biased Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Warrington with site visits on an ad-hoc basis. They supports clients in the Water, Power & Energy, Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, and Food & Beverage industries.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a specialist section of our business, ensuring the commercial control of multiple projects. It’s a permanent staff role, working hybrid 3 days office and 2 from home.
Key Responsibilities: Quantity Surveyor
- Assist in the commercial control of multiple projects to ensure contract margin delivery.
- Prepare interim valuations, variations, final accounts, and weekly progress reports.
- Ensure strict adherence to all contractual notices.
- Perform take-offs to identify changes in drawings from tender to AFC and construction issues.
- Monitor subcontract costs against allowances and manage labour allocation.
- Update internal project databases to track costs.
- Implement effective risk management techniques.
- Manage subcontract orders, project tenders, and pre-contract information.
- Ensure materials are purchased within tender allowances.
- Deliver projects commercially in line with contract margins.
- Inform senior management of cost overruns or risks to project delivery.
- Perform other duties necessary for the role of Quantity Surveyor.
Key Requirements: Quantity Surveyor
- Minimum 5 years of experience and/or relevant professional qualifications.
- Experience with multi-discipline contracting organisations is essential.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and framework contracts is desirable.
- Familiarity with contract administration tools like CEMAR is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Full driving license.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills at senior levels.
