Job Overview: The Commissioning Engineer will oversee the commissioning process of projects, ensuring all systems and equipment are correctly set up and commissioned to meet project requirements. This role demands a focus on safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) while managing the technical and operational aspects of commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ)
- Monitor and review supply chain performance against KPIs and KPMs.
- Develop and implement initiatives to enhance SHEQ behaviours and standards.
General Management
- Liaise with design teams, suppliers, and sub-contractors to ensure equipment is fully set up and commissioned.
- Utilize technical input and expertise efficiently.
- Ensure equipment is Factory Acceptance Tested (FAT) and snag-free before site delivery.
- Produce regular reports for senior management.
- Contribute to the overall project program.
- Ensure accurate capture of installation, testing, and commissioning data.
- Ensure installations and commissioning are of high quality and snag-free.
Client Facing
- Participate in site surveys of systems and equipment.
- Maintain strong relationships with the Client organization, especially Service Delivery.
- Contribute to client management reports and briefings.
- Maintain ongoing communication with representatives from Asset Creation (AC) and Service Delivery (SD).
- Conduct training sessions for the client’s operational staff.
- Actively participate in the Client’s Site COMM Cells.
Technical
- Possess knowledge and experience relevant to the project scope.
- Provide commissioning input from outline design to final commissioning and handover.
- Develop and write commissioning plans and procedures.
- Perform hands-on commissioning activities.
- Be conversant with the 17th or subsequent edition of the Electrical Regulations.
- Understand water and wastewater treatment processes and commission them systematically.
- Manage FAT testing and defect resolution.
- Demonstrate strong troubleshooting capabilities.
- Manage process, mechanical and electrical design refinements and scope changes.
- Documentation Review: Review and instigate design changes for electrical/mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, FDS documents, P&I documents.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate project-commissioning activities with third-party Commissioning Engineers.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong technical background in relevant engineering discipline.
- Up-to-date knowledge of electrical regulations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage project elements and deadlines effectively.
