Principal Technical Safety Engineer

Location: Woking (Hybrid)

Contract Type: Ltd Company Contract (Long Term)

Scope of Services

The Principal Technical Safety Engineer will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical safety engineering services, with a requirement to undertake additional services as mutually agreed through contract amendments. The primary services to be supported during the duration of the contract include:

  • Lead Engineer Activities: Oversee and guide technical safety engineering activities within the project.
  • Hours Control: Monitor and manage engineering hours to ensure project efficiency and budget adherence.
  • Technical Review and Document Checks: Conduct thorough technical reviews and checks of project documents to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Meetings Attendance: Participate in lead engineer meetings, HAZOP (Hazard and Operability), HAZID (Hazard Identification), SIL (Safety Integrity Level) review, and Plot Plan Review sessions.
  • Client Meetings: Engage in discussions with clients to ensure their safety requirements and expectations are met.

Key Deliverables

The deliverables for this role include:

  1. Project Weekly Reports: Compile and submit weekly reports detailing project progress, including resource plans and schedules.
  2. HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Plan: Develop and maintain an HSE plan that outlines the safety procedures and protocols for the project.
  3. HSE Philosophy: Establish and document the HSE philosophy, guiding principles, and objectives for the project.
  4. Safety Studies: Conduct and document safety studies to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  5. Loss Prevention: Implement loss prevention strategies to minimize risks and ensure safety compliance.
  6. Hazard Identification and SIL Assessment: Perform hazard identification and SIL assessment to evaluate and address safety risks.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in technical safety engineering within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and coordinate engineering activities.
  • Proficiency in conducting technical reviews and ensuring document compliance.
  • Experience in attending and contributing to safety-related meetings and reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, Plot Plan Review).
  • Excellent communication skills for effective client interactions and report generation.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage project schedules, resource plans, and deliverables efficiently.
