Job Type: 12-month Contract or Permanent Position
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Support Engineer to join our team at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. In this role, you will be working closely with a lead architect to support the construction of two modular buildings, ensuring engineering and architectural standards are met throughout the process. This position is ideal for someone with a strong architectural background and engineering experience, with a focus on modular building design and construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the lead architect with the engineering aspects of modular building construction.
- Provide technical expertise for the development and execution of building design plans.
- Assist with the integration of architectural and engineering systems, ensuring they meet industry regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address and resolve design and construction challenges.
- Contribute to the review and implementation of building systems, including M&E, HVAC, and IT communications.
- Attend site meetings and visits (at least once a week) to monitor progress and ensure adherence to design and safety standards.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, drawings, and other project documentation as required.
Key Requirements:
- Architectural background with a degree in architecture or a related field.
- Experience in modular building construction, with a focus on the engineering aspects (structural, mechanical, and electrical systems).
- Knowledge of RIBA standards and relevant building regulations.
- Previous experience in regulated environments (e.g., M&E, HVAC, IT communications) is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- UK Nationals (due to security clearance requirements).
- Must be able to attend site at least once a week.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in project coordination or project management.
- Familiarity with construction safety and quality standards.
- SC clearance or eligibility to undergo security vetting.
