First Make Waves in Ghana

03 Apr 2018

This past week our Client Development Director, Lewis Trow, and Oil & Gas Business Manager, Mark Wallace, visited our in-country office in Ghana to develop its presence.

Meeting clients in Accra

During their visit, they met with existing clients Tullow Oil, ENI, Technip and Modec, to better understand their particular needs in Ghana. Focus was upon recruiting skilled Ghanaian's both in country, as well as how to attract Ghanaian's back to the country, who could be working elsewhere around the globe.

First Technical Ghana's capabilities

Lewis and Mark worked together with our in-country Business Manager, Martin Aye-Addo, who brings over 9 years Oil & Gas recruitment experience, analysing the market and looking for new opportunities. Martin is supported by a local team who take full operational responsibility for arranging payroll, visas, work permits, taxes, local support and of course recruitment. Our clients can be assured of full compliance, including approval by the Ghanaian Petroleum Commission.

Refreshingly vibrant and positive

Lewis Trow described his visit saying, “This was my first time visiting Ghana and what a refreshingly vibrant and positive place it was. It was great to meet a number of existing clients learning about their specific operations in Ghana, as well as meeting with number of new clients which were very promising. We even made time to meet a few of our current contractors living in Ghana, who helped us better understand the benefits of working in this beautiful country. I’m particularly eager to see these opportunities progress as we invest in building our capability in Ghana.”

Huge potential for growth

Mark Wallace added, “What we found most exciting was the huge potential for growth in Ghana. The Oil & Gas industry is only 10 years old, yet it is making huge waves in education and job opportunities, which is why we feel we are best placed to help with this growth.”
